How to Properly Care for Lash Extensions

Lash extensions can be a fabulous investment and relatively low maintenance, especially compared to daily makeup and false strip lashes. However, in order for them to last and look great as long as possible you need to take proper care of them. Here are some recommendations I provide to all my guests.

Don't get Lashes Wet for 24 HRS.

After your initial full set or lash fill, you need to keep your lashes from getting wet for 24 hours. This includes trying to avoid heavy sweating or tears on your freshly applied lash extensions as well.

The reason for this, is that the adhesive is still curing.

Clean your Lashes!

It is so important to cleanse your lashes at least 1x a day if not twice. I recommend twice at least if you are wearing eye makeup. When you skip cleaning your lashes daily, your lash follicles can get clogged with dirt, oil, and debris. Dirty lashes are known to cause Blepharitis, Styes, Conjunctivitis or even an infestation of lash mites! This applies to eyes in general, even people without eyelash extensions or people who do not wear make-up should have good eye hygiene.

I retail an oil free, vegan, pH balanced and gentle lash shampoo and cleansing brush to ensure you are using the best products for the care of your lashes.

To properly cleanse your lashes:

1: Apply 1-2 pumps of 4:13 Lash Shampoo to each eye.

2: With your cleansing brush use gentle downward and circular motions over lashes and eyelid

3: Rinse lashes

4: Let lashes air dry or you may use your blow dryer on cool setting.

Brush your Lashes Daily

Brush your lashes mid length and upwards with a lash wand. Brushing your lashes after cleansing them and daily will keep lashes looking fabulous!

Schedule Lash Fills

To keep your lashes healthy and looking full you need to schedule a lash fill every 2-3 weeks. Each natural lash is in a different growth cycle and we typically lose about 3-5 natural lashes a day.

During your lash fill appointment I safely remove outgrown extensions off the natural lash to replace with a new lash extension closer to the base, this ensures your natural lash health.

If you wait too long you may find yourself needing a full set than a fill.
